Georgia plans to build an artificial island

The Georgian government recently announced its intention to build an archipelago of artificial islands on the Black Sea, which will be located within the city of Batumi. The result is expected to resemble the palm islands found in the UAE.

Notable features of the project

The construction is financed by private investments and amounts to $100 million. 90 hectares have been allocated for construction.

The following objects are expected to be built on the island:

• several hotels with 500 rooms;
• entertainment centers;
• shopping malls.

Since the construction is planned to be large-scale and requires a lot of research and study of the area, it is planned to attract more than 2 thousand narrowly focused specialists and workers.
