It is a known fact that the population of Europe is gradually decreasing. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, but the main one is a decrease in the birth rate. Small towns and villages especially suffer from this, since the number of inhabitants in them is also decreasing due to mass emigration.
One of the regions of Croatia that has suffered the most due to this situation is the Lehrad community, located in the remote part of the country. According to the latest data, there are about 2 thousand people living in it - these are mainly people over middle age (young people typically move to large cities and central regions).
In order to increase the population and thereby revive the economic and industrial potential of the region, the local authorities decided to create the most attractive conditions for investors. One of these steps was the sale of abandoned housing for 1 Croatian kuna, which is equal to approximately 15 cents.
Purchase terms
Not everyone can buy housing on sale. In order to do that the following conditions must be met:
So far, 19 houses have been put up for sale, 17 of which have already been purchased. Considering that the condition of such structures is often rather deplorable, the community authorities are ready to financially participate in the reconstruction together with the new owners.
