The history of the village of Petrovac began in the times of the Roman Empire, when several villages appeared in Krš Medinski (Krš Medinski). The rich historical past is evidenced by the preserved Roman mosaics (late IV — early III century BC) found near the Church of St. Elijah (St. Ilije). Later, a Slavic settlement was located here. For the first time the village is mentioned in the Chronicles of one of the priests of Dukli. In the northern part of the bay is a 16th-century Venetian fortress, Kastel Lastva, built to discourage pirates. The village received the name "Petrovac" only at the beginning of the 20th century during the reign of King Peter I Karadjordjevich. During the Second World War, British agents landed in nearby Perazića Do. Their goal was to establish contact with the Yugoslav partisans (Operation Hydra). Despite the small size of the village, it has a football club of the same name, OFK Petrovac, which plays in the First League of Montenegro. In the 21st James Bond film, Casino Royale, Petrovac was the location of the casino of the same name according to the plot. In the film, however, there were no shots from the Montenegrin Petrovets.
