Jomas Street is one of the central and oldest streets of the Riga seaside. During its existence, it has experienced various changes and transformations. The development of streets in Jurmala is associated with bays, which is what the name of Jomas Street says (joma means "bay"). Once, Jomas street started at the current intersection of Lienes and Jomas behind the square of Majori station.

Only after 1936, due to the change of street names, when Rigas Street was shortened, Jomas was extended to the border of Majori-Dubulti district. The name of the street has remained unchanged to this day, although in 1899 for a short time it became Pushkin Street. Jomas Street is a kind of “red carpet”, a promenade leading along seaside restaurants to the famous Dzintari concert hall, the venue for endless summer concerts and, above all, the international music festival “New Wave”.
