After the UK was included in the list of countries with a particularly dangerous strain of COVID-19, Germany has introduced restrictive measures for tourists entering from the UK. These rules have been in effect since May 23rd. Now only German citizens, as well as their close relatives, can enter from this country, and for the rest the border remains closed.

Current situation with COVID-19 in the UK

Starting on May 17th, the UK entered the third phase of easing quarantine measures. These are the main conditions:

  • successful implementation of the vaccination campaign - about 22 million people received at least one dose of the vaccine;
  • a gradual decrease in the number of hospitalized citizens;
  • new strains of the virus do not change the overall spread of COVID-19.

In accordance with the existing plan, the remaining restrictions will be lifted on June 21st.
