Asari is a part of the city of Jurmala, located 28 km from Riga, formed on the territory of the former fishing village of Saushi. This place has its current name since the 19th century (the name comes from the house of the Asars). Construction began in the second half of the 19th century. The place is famous for its strawberries. For the first time, strawberries were planted here in 1877 - they were brought from France by the owner of the dacha Cortezi.
In the 30s Asari was a favorite vacation spot for wealthy residents of Riga. On Dzimtenes street 1 there is a recreation park with attractions, a dance floor, a sports equipment rental point and a cafe.
